Pastoral Care at Kingsway

Pastoral Care at Kingsway Christian College is an integral part of the learning journey. Our proactive approach in pastoral care is one that encourages students to build lifelong friendships, to learn integrity and to make wise choices. With our Christian faith at the core, the College provides students with a meaningful understanding of Christ. Students are supported by Form teachers and Heads of Students in Secondary and class teachers and Heads of Area in Primary and Early Learning. These caring teachers remain in contact with parents at all times to advise of any issues relating to student welfare. Through a ‘buddy’ system in the Primary years and a Peer mentoring system in the Secondary years, students are encouraged to care for each other and to look to older students for advice.

Since 2022 Kingsway has partnered with Masters & Co to provide an on-campus ‘pop-up’ clinic to make psychological services available to Kingsway students.

Masters Psychology provides psychological and assessment services to Kingsway students aimed at promoting psychological well-being across the full range of age and abilities. These services are planned in consultation with College staff, families and Masters & Co.

Each student at Kingsway has the option to access 4 unique consultations per year, free of charge, with a member of the M&Co. Psychology team (eg., A registered provisional psychologist) located in the Masters Pop-up Clinic on our campus, near the main reception.

KC Koala

Introduced in 2007, KC Koala is our one and only College Mascot. KC Koala’s role is to help develop a positive, affirming environment for all students. KC Koala is often sighted at Primary Assemblies, congratulating students who receive merit awards with a ‘high five’. KC Koala also appears at some Primary Sports Carnivals and has been a popular attraction with young children at past College Open Nights.

Child Safety

Kingsway Christian College is committed to providing a child-safe environment which safeguards all students and promotes practices which provide for the safety, wellbeing and welfare of our children and young people.  The College expects all school community members including staff, volunteers, students, visitors and contractors to share this commitment. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making. In its planning, decision-making and operations Kingsway Christian College will:

  • Take a preventative, proactive and participatory approach to child safety;
  • Value and empower children to participate in decisions which affect their lives;
  • Foster a culture of openness that supports all persons to safely disclose risks of harm to children
  • Respect diversity in cultures and child rearing practices while keeping child safety paramount;
  • Provide written guidance on appropriate conduct and behaviour towards children;
  • Engage only the most suitable people to work with children and have high quality staff and volunteer supervision and professional development;
  • Ensure children know who to talk with if they are worried or are feeling unsafe, and that they are comfortable and encouraged to raise such issues;
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect or mistreatment promptly to the appropriate authorities;
  • Share information appropriately and lawfully with other organisations where the safety and wellbeing of children is at risk; and
  • Value the input of, and communicate regularly with, families and carers.
