Olivia Osborne (Year 10) and her younger sister Rebecca (Year 6) attended the 2016 Australian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships held in Victoria in September. Both represented the State team, winning their respective divisions and bringing home the only two golds for WA.
Olivia is the new Australian Champion for the Intermediate Level 7 division (which is the highest National division). In July Olivia represented Australia in the Aerodance division, placing 7th in the world at the ANAC International Championships.
Rebecca won Gold in the International, National Development division. She was the only competitor in her division to be selected onto the National Squad by achieving the required qualification score. This is a huge achievement and opens the door for Rebecca to attend national camps and trials for selection to represent Australia at international events in 2017. Rebecca moves up an age group in 2017 so will face tough new competition but is excited for the challenge. Her first trial will be in January 2017 when she will be aiming for selection onto the team that will represent Australia at the Suzuki World Cup in April.
Both girls train at Spirit Gymnastics club for their Aerobic gymnastics. They are also part of the tumbling squad at local club High Flyers.
