The Primary Easter Service was held on the final day of Term 1. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the true meaning of Easter. The event was opened in prayer by Mrs Gai Irvine and then the Primary choir sang sand and we also had a stirring performance by the Primary strings led by Mrs Jenny Williams.
Mr Luke Wiseman, our College Chaplain was the speaker this year and spoke on the subject of ‘special gifts’. He showed the students a fishing rod which was a wedding gift. He told the story of when he proposed to his wife and how the ring cost him all he had at the time and how Jesus gift cost him a lot too but we can have it as a free gift and do not have to earn it.
The Primary Drama Club performed for the first time at the Easter Assembly. Their
performance represented the freedom we have because of what Christ did for us on the cross. The drama featured simple movement and no speaking, set to the song “Fix You” by Coldplay. Students walked on stage carrying heavy bags representing the burdens and sin we can carry in life. As the drama went on and the music built, the students noticed the large cross on stage and other students holding colourful, light crosses. Realising they didn’t need to carry the weight of their burdens; they carried them to the cross and left them there, taking on a new life that’s free of what held them back!
